ABOUT THE JOURNAL

Press Studies is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that provides free full-text online access to all published materials. Thus, the editorial board complies with the requirements of the «Regulations on the Open Access Journal of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine» (No. 127 of 20.03.2024) and confirms cooperation with the international scientific community in supporting global initiatives for open access to research results. The journal is published on the recommendation of the Academic Council of the Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv.

Focus and Scope

The journal publishes the results of research by Ukrainian and foreign scholars in scientific specialities:

B13 – Library, information and archival studies

C7 – Journalism

The journal presents scientific papers covering the following issues: theoretical and methodological aspects of the study of print media and journalism in general; the history of the creation and functioning of individual periodicals and systems of press units; the problems of press bibliography, its typology, functional purpose and tasks; the study of the specifics of reflecting socio-political problems, events, etc.; the peculiarities of the activities of editorial teams, the creative heritage of well-known and little-known journalists, publicists, publishers and editors. In addition, the journal publishes original articles on bibliography, source studies, history of publishing, bibliography, journalism and library science, and reviews.

Program objectives

  • presentation of the results of Ukrainian and international theoretical and methodological research on print media and journalism in general, as well as the achievements of Ukrainian and foreign scholars in studying the history of individual periodicals, the system of press units and their influence on the formation of public opinion;
  • publication of the results of scientific research devoted to the formation of the press repertoire, the reconstruction of biographies and the analysis of the creative heritage of journalists, publicists, publishers and editors;
  • promoting the updating of scientific discourse on theoretical, methodological and applied aspects of studying the history of journalism and the press, in particular Ukrainian, of the 19th–21st centuries.

The state registration of the journal was carried out at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, which is confirmed by the «Certificate of State Registration» issued on August 5, 2022 (Series: KV, No. 25285-15225P) (сформувати гіперпосилання).

Publication frequency: The journal is published twice a year (June, December). Articles are accepted until April 1 and October 1. 

Language(s) of publication: Ukrainian, English, Polish.

Pee Review policy: Scientific articles submitted to Press Studies are double-blind peer-reviewed free of charge.
